Popkunst forever

The book deals with Estonian pop art at the turn of the 1960s and 1970 s. The work of young artists who were just starting out during this short time period changed the entire paradigm of Estonian art. The book focuses on the local characteristics of pop art that resulted from the social and ideological environment of the time. The visual language of pop art moved quickly from figurative art to the consumer sphere; a distinctive segment was animated films. Pop art had come to stay, and it is discernible in all types of art during subsequent decades, in the fine arts, decorative arts, fashion, interior design etc.
