The book accompanies the exhibition “Vello Vinn. Counter-reflections at the Kumu Art Museum (14.02. – 09.08.2020). The works of Vello Vinna (b. 1939) are a remarkable example of the 1960s. in the late 1970s. from the work of the generation of Estonian graphic artists who emerged at the beginning of the 19th century, the special feature of which is a complete and emphatically personal depicting system. Vinna’s unique visual world is based on a masterful mastery of graphic techniques, fine image processing and witty connections. His spatial and figurative games, the perception of details and different levels of meaning, and the re-perception of the whole based on all this offer a unique viewing experience. In addition to picture games, there is an ingenious play of words and benevolent humor in the works, through which the viewer becomes a co-thinker of the artist and a participant in his work.
