The folded world. Fans from the collections of the Estonian Art Museum

The book accompanies the exhibition of the same name at the Mikkeli Museum (25.04. – 11.10.2015) and contains a catalog of fans in the museum’s collections and articles on the history, collection and conservation of fans. The valuable fan collection of the Estonian Art Museum, which consists of more than 30 objects, includes those from the 18th to the 20th century. important fashion accessories from the first half of the century from Western Europe and Russia, as well as from China and Japan. The historical fans reveal the world of that time in miniature: social life and customs, fashion and politics.
