Codes. Leonhard Lapin

Leonhard Lapin celebrated his 60^th birthday in 2007 with the exhibition Codes at the Kumu Art Museum. The exhibition was accompanied by this book. Lapin’s Codes series, started in 2003, is based on one of the most substantial symbols of the contemporary world – commercial bar codes – which the artist has processed and used as the basic structures in his paintings and prints. The book includes an article by Leonhard Lapin, in which the artist interprets his Codes series, and essays by the art historian Anders Härm on the phenomenon of Lapin. The book also includes a comprehensive biography of the artist.
